International Coastal Cleanup Day 2022

Between the 17th and 25th of September, the world came together for the protection of the ocean, once again under the umbrella of the International Coastal Cleanup Day. Over 385 Portuguese organisations and entities organized 204 cleanup actions from the north to the south of the country, including the Azores and Madeira.

The Oceano Azul Foundation congratulates all those who collaborated in this movement – NGOs, associations, schools, dive, surf, and bodyboard schools and other branches civil society, as well as municipalities and parish councils, embassies – all of whom demonstrated the growing concern and greater environmental awareness of Portuguese society.

Educating for a Blue Generation

In 2022, the initiative counted, once again, on the strong adhesion of students from schools participating in the “Educating for a Blue Generation” program: more than 2800 students and teachers from 47 schools, as well as Ocean Leader Joana Schenker, participated in cleanup actions.

Initiative in partnership with the European Union, in the scope of the #EUBeachCleanup campaign.
