COOL – Clean Ocean Organisations Convention

On November 23, 2019 at Oceanário de Lisboa, the Oceano Azul Foundation hosted 58 organizations from throughout Portugal dedicated to tackling the problem of marine litter and protecting the Ocean.

This gathering of organizations who work to remove marine litter on beaches and waterways throughout Portugal, shared best practices, experiences, knowledge, and ideas about the current and future challenges within the area of marine litter.

93 representatives from 58 movements, associations, NGOs, and informal groups were present, collectively voicing their commitment to a cleaner Ocean. The Convention was also attended by speakers from international organizations with extensive experience in the theme of marine litter: Cristina Barreau (Surfrider Foundation Europe), Peta Day (Project AWARE), Lise Gulbransen (Keep Norway Beautiful) and Paul Rose (National Geographic and Cleaner Thames Campaign).

This meeting showed Portugal’s strengthening network of organizations working to tackle the problem of marine litter, for a cleaner Ocean.
